An Opera By Benjamin Britten

For this project I have decided to research Britten's 'The Turn of the Screw'. Mostly this is because I enjoy a good ghost story, so the subject matter appeals to me a great deal. To ensure I have a thorough knowledge of the material before I author my own programme notes, I will read the novella by Henry James and then watch a recording of the opera. Alongside this I will use the internet to research Britten's score to gain an understanding of how the music supports the drama, and the themes and ideas that he used.
